Chocolat Imperial
“Chocolat Impérial” is a brand name and, at the same time, a symbol of quality with an important historical background. Back in 1912, the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef awarded the Trappist monks from Rajhenburg Castle the title IMPERIAL in recognition of the quality of their products. Under the Imperial brand, the monks successfully marketed chocolates, cocoa and tea in various parts of Europe. They were also masters in the production of cheeses, liqueurs, wines and sparkling wines.
Upon the opening of the renovated Rajhenburg Castle in 2012, we actively participated in the rural development project dubbed “Trapistin” in collaboration with the Krško Culture House, the manager of Rajhenburg Castle, to revive the Imperial chocolate. During and after the completion of the project, we started manufacturing chocolate products in the new chocolaterie at Rajhenburg Castle. We re-registered the Chocolat Imperial trademark and invented a completely new flavoured drink based on wine and chocolate, or as we call it, “chocolate wine”. Due to the positive response from the public, the interesting and enticing flavour, and the integration of tradition, cultural heritage, and modern trends, we decided that this product deserves special honour and should bear the title Chocolat Impérial. In the future, all other chocolate products of superior quality which are currently being developed, will bear this name.
